I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want to take the TIE Unearthed podcast.
What I’ve loved most about doing it until now are the different perspectives I’ve gained from so many varied conversations.
And that is really the heart of where I want to go next.
I want to talk to people who have seen something the rest of us might not have seen. People whose work, lives or experiences have given them a different way of understanding themselves, other people, and the world around them.
That might mean a CEO. But it might also mean a Major General, an anthropologist, a scientist, an artist, a professional athlete, a retired naval helicopter pilot, a diplomat, or someone working across faiths and conflict.
Because I wholeheartedly believe that one of the most useful ways to understand our own world is to step outside it.
And actually, this focus on perspective is very close to the heart of what TIE has always done. We’ve always been about helping people to step outside their usual world, encounter different realities, and see themselves and others differently.
That feels especially relevant right now.
I was talking with a client this week about how much fear and uncertainty AI is creating inside organisations. For all the focus on AI literacy and transformation, people are still having to navigate uncertainty, difference, changing cultures and new ways of working.
Which makes those very human qualities we talk about at TIE, such as curiosity, adaptability, perspective, resilience, and connection, feel more important, not less.
So with the next episode launching on Friday this week, TIE Unearthed begins a new series.
Pete, my producer, and I were very intentional about the new music, too. I wanted it to reflect where the podcast is going: into that space between the increasingly technological world around us and the very human qualities that still shape how we understand it.
The track has an electronic edge and a sense of movement and possibility, but woven through it are soft, breathy human vocals. There’s a little mystery too. It builds, shifts and opens up.
That felt right for these conversations. TIE Unearthed is increasingly about encountering perspectives, experiences and ideas that make us see something differently. And I wanted the music to start doing a little of that work before the conversation had even begun.
SO….expect a new sound, a slightly different approach, and a first guest whose perspective feels like a very good place to begin.
And I’m looking much further afield for the conversations that come next: military, science, diplomacy, faith, anthropology, medicine, creativity, exploration. Anywhere there are interesting lessons about trust, perspective, interdependence and simply being human.
Who do you think I should talk to?
Any recommendations, please send them my way and I’ll reach out. 🙂
