We’ve just wrapped up our final Virtual TIE programme of the year with Arla Foods.
And what a way to end it.
The final presentation wasn’t just strong – the energy on the Zoom call was electric. We all felt it. And it wasn’t because everything had been easy, but instead because it had been real.
There were six people around the business.
Different roles, time zones, cultures and leadership archetypes.
It was a team that had never worked together before. Some who had just joined the company.
And it was not only a complex challenge far outside of their day-to-day work that they were working on. But there was a real sense of responsibility to ensure they truly helped the organisation Iracambi, a Brazilian conservation NGO working to restore the Atlantic Rainforest.
At times over the 6 week programme things understandably felt a bit overwhelming.
There was uncertainty. Overreach. Pressure. Limited time. Full-time jobs running in parallel. And moments where the shared understanding simply wasn’t there yet.
But something powerful happened as the team progressed through the leadership experience.
They slowed down and they spoke openly. They asked the hard questions early, then listened deeply and differently to the answers. They created a space where it felt safe to challenge, to disagree, and to admit uncertainty.
And from that safety came trust.
From trust came collaboration.
And from collaboration came the clarity they were waiting for.
From trust came collaboration.
And from collaboration came the clarity they were waiting for.
And then the magic started to happen.
They flexed their leadership.
Moved between empathy and assertiveness.
Involved the right people at the right time.
Built feedback loops that kept everyone aligned.
And let go of ownership, finding ways to truly own the process, together.
Hierarchy was non-existent.
Voices came through that might otherwise have stayed quiet.
Creativity increased, and then momentum followed.

Creativity increased, and then momentum followed.
The result is not only a cohesive team that now considers one another friends, but also a solution for Iracambi that blew all of us away: Iracambi, leadership at Arla and all of us at TIE. It was extraordinary.
This was a reminder that leadership isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about alignment, curiosity, psychological safety, and the courage to take the leap – even when the path isn’t clear.

A HUGE thanks to the team for showing what’s possible when we create the conditions for humanity to lead. To Arla Foods for investing in leadership that’s lived. And to Iracambi for the ongoing partnership.
What a powerful way to close the year. As you can tell – I’m still buzzing.
Happy holidays everyone. Wishing you all the best as you settle into the festive period. And we can’t wait to see you on the other side!
