Last week, something powerful happened.
Our TIE team came together to work on a proposal, and what started as a typical task turned into a reminder of the importance of connection.
We made coffee from my fancy new coffee maker (thank you Heather Ridout), we ate tasty carrot cake, and caught up on the last few months before we got to the task at hand. It was SO good.
In a world where virtual working is the norm, it’s easy to forget the magic that happens when people are in the same room—sharing ideas, building on each other’s energy, and strengthening the bonds that make a team more than just a group of individuals.
Yes, virtual work offers incredible flexibility, but without moments of face-to-face interaction, something gets lost. We lose sight of the bigger picture, and working starts to feel like just a way to make money instead of being part of something bigger.
Last week reminded us that coming together in person fuels our unity, our purpose, and our drive. It re-energised us in ways that Zoom meetings just can’t replicate.
What have you done lately to foster real connection and belonging at work?
