Welcome to “Spotlight on Women in our Industry”, where we recognise trailblazing women in L&D and beyond. This month, we’re highlighting Philippa White.

Philippa is a global thought leader, social innovator and the Founder and CEO of UK-based company TIE Leadership.

For 20 years she has been rewiring corporate leaders with her unique leadership development approach for individuals, teams and at scale. Born in South Africa and raised in Canada, Philippa relocated to the UK after a business exchange programme in Thailand, and now lives in Brazil. She brings a people-first approach to business that fuels not just commercial success, but also contributes to a more sustainable world.

Over her career she has worked with some of the world’s biggest businesses, helping their people develop the necessary human competencies to thrive in today’s corporate world.

As the creator and host of the TIE Unearthed Podcast and host of the London ‘Evening with TIE’ events, Philippa is also an accomplished keynote speaker and author, with over 60 published articles, and the international bestselling book, Return on Humanity. She mentors and advises companies keen to adopt a more human approach to business, drawing on her extensive experience and the transformative power of her work.

Modern executives crave roles where they can learn, connect, and grow-where encountering fresh perspectives and new ideas is the norm. They want to work for businesses with meaningful purposes, and TIE Leadership helps make that possible by creating ‘people-centred leaders.

TIE introduces people to different cultures and challenges, which helps them better understand their own unique qualities and potential. By pushing people out of their comfort zones and exposing them to real global issues and tough social problems.

Their leadership training programmes are designed to reframe success by nurturing leaders who are not just more responsible and resilient, but also more creative and confident. This approach helps build more valuable businesses that thrive in today’s volatile, interdependent environment. TIE calls this “Return on Humanity”.

I recently met up with Philippa just after the launch of her new book… you’ve guessed it, ‘Return on Humanity’. It was great to hear more about the inspiration behind the book (and to get my own copy signed!). Philippa’s passion for people is evident and her experience through TE has given her some great examples and experiences to share.

We’re excited to announce that we will soon be hosting a special ‘Meet the Author interview with Philippa in the CLO Lounge. In this exclusive event, Philippa will be interviewed by executive coach, author and psychologist, Steph Tranter.

This interview promises to be a deep dive into some of the most compelling sections of Philippa’s new book, ‘Return on Humanity: Steph will explore the motivations and passions that drove Philippa to write this insightful work, bringing to life the rich examples and stories she shares.

But that’s not all-our members will also have the unique opportunity to engage directly with Philippa by asking their own questions. This is a fantastic chance to gain deeper insights into her thought process and learn more about her extraordinary journey and unique business.
