Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I work out with two friends in the square beside my house. In the evenings, we often negotiate the space with a group of guys from a local community—a pretty rough area.
They come with their football goals strapped to their bikes and wait patiently while we finish, then head to the square to play football.
Yesterday, as they waited for us to wrap up our stretching, they shared a pineapple. Yes, a pineapple.
These tough, no-nonsense guys (from all ages) pulled out a pineapple, sliced it up beside the square, and then shared it among themselves before getting into their game.
My heart melted.
It was a glimpse into Brazilian culture—community and connection at its core. It reminded me that there’s always a deeper story behind every person.
These everyday interactions with people from different backgrounds mean so much. They remind us that we don’t see the world as it is, but as we are.
When we pause to notice these human moments, we get a chance to understand people beyond labels and assumptions. And in doing so, we expand our own view of the world.
This is what we strive for at TIE Leadership.
Working in 26 countries, we immerse leaders in environments that push them out of their frameworks, helping them see problems from new angles, discover untapped potential, and collaborate in ways they never have before. They broaden perspectives and bridge divides.
True leadership today requires empathy, openness, and the courage to see the world from another’s point of view.
And innovation thrives when we step out of our comfort zones and challenge our assumptions.
When your team works with people who think differently, big change happens.
If you’re ready for your leaders to create actionable insights and new approaches that stick, why don’t you reach out. I’d love to bring to life the various ways we make all of this possible.
Better leaders. Better companies. Better world.

P.S I did ask these lovely pineapple eating footballers if I could take this picture and they kindly agreed.
